Dear Readers,

It is my pleasure to introduce Volume 9, Issue 2 of The Fulbright Korea Infusion. As the last half of this year’s publication series, it is my hope that the spring issue can be enjoyed complementarily to the fall issue. Taken together, this collection constitutes a portrait of what grantees or alumni can accomplish in a year, personally and professionally, in attitude and in action.

As the year winds down, many grantees reflect on their experience and begin to prepare themselves either for the tribulations of an extended stay or the jolt of reentry home. Whether you are a grantee, an alumnus or a friend, or whether you have lived in Korea your whole life or never stepped foot on peninsular soil, I hope you can find something in each of these pieces that relates to your own experience.

This issue is the culmination of the efforts of an exceptional team of colleagues. I am proud of the editors, writers and designers who worked so many hours and late nights refining an anthology of lived experiences that I truly believe reflects the values so important to the Fulbright Program’s mission. I hope that your own understanding of Fulbright Korea’s mission is deepened in some way by reading these pieces.

All the best,
Jai Ok Shim
