Rachel Youngeun Rostad

Rachel Youngeun Rostad is a 1st-year ETA teaching at a high school in Seosan. Rachel graduated from Macalester College with a B.A. in Anthropology and English. Her pastimes include singing and making music. In her younger, cooler days, she had bleached blonde hair and sang in a band that opened for Rae Sremmurd at her college’s music festival.

Paige Aniyah Morris

Paige Aniyah Morris is a 2nd-year ETA at Jungwon University, a co-ed university in Goesan, Chungcheongbuk-do. She hails from Jersey City, New Jersey, and earned B.A. degrees in Literary Arts (with Honors) and Ethnic Studies at Brown University. Her current claim to fame is having her K-pop fangirling broadcast on Korean television for all the nation—and all her students—to see.

Leeann Oelrich

Leeann Oelrich is a 1st-year ETA teaching at a high school in Andong. Leeann graduated from Coe College with a B.A. in English and Spanish. She made a bet with her mother that they would get matching tattoos if she was awarded a Fulbright Grant. Leeann won! Her mother did something she said she never would. It was a huge victory.

Heidi M. Little

Monitor

Heidi M. Little is a second-year ETA at an all-girls high school on Jeju Island. She graduated from Michigan State University with a major in Linguistics and a minor in Educational Studies. Before coming to Korea, she worked for two years in the counseling office of an American high school. Her interests are eclectic and include watching as many different versions of Pride & Prejudice as she can find, pounding out Lord of the Rings music on the piano, and playing Mario Party with her three younger sisters.

Tien Le is a 2nd-year ETA teaching at a college in Goesan. Tien graduated from Pomona College with a B.A. in Media Studies. Exactly 47% of the time, she is reading fan fiction.

Caleb Y. Lee

Caleb Y. Lee is a 1st-year ETA teaching at a high school in Jeonju. He graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. in Economics. FUN FACT: There’s a 12-year gap between him and his youngest brother.

Mara Guevarra

Mara Guevarra is a 2nd year Korean Studies Graduate Study Grantee at Yonsei University in Seoul. Mara graduated from University of Southern California with a B.A. in Animation and Digital Arts and East Asian Area Studies. She is currently writing a Korean drama about college students and incognito cupids, in which the main characters conquer evil with the power of platonic friendship.

Sharon Cho

Sharon Cho is a 1st-year ETA teaching at a middle school in Cheongju. Sharon graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in Sociology and minors in Psychology and Education. She has resigned herself to the fact that her brother is the cooler, more well-adjusted sibling.

Han Yong Wunrow is a 1st-year ETA teaching at Wonkwang High School in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do. Han Yong graduated from University of Minnesota with a B.S. in Mathematics – Genomics. Some say that he resembles his high school mascot, which was a Fighting Calculator.

Melissa Kukowski

Melissa Kukowski is a 1st-year ETA teaching at a middle school in Mokpo. Melissa graduated from University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Neuroscience and Psychology. FUN FACT: B.F. Skinner was born in her hometown.

Lisa Chang

Lisa Chang is a 2nd-year ETA teaching at a high school in Cheongju. Lisa graduated from Occidental College with a B.A. in Religious Studies. She has a soft spot for dogs and cafes, yet strangely has not been to a dog cafe yet. She’s fortunate enough to not have any dietary restrictions, yet she sweats sometimes when she eats Skittles, Starbursts, and sour candy.

Annie Schaeffer

Annie Schaeffer is a 2nd-year ETA teaching at a high school in Cheonan. Annie graduated from Truman State University with a B.A. in English. In middle school, Annie created a miniature origami collection. She is still skilled at neatly tearing paper, and she occasionally designs her own cable knitting patterns.

Kyle E. Wardwell

Kyle E. Wardwell is a 1st-year ETA teaching at Naju Technical High School (나주 공업 고등 학교) in Naju. Kyle graduated from Oklahoma City University and the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering & Chemistry. He was part of Team USA at the Rio 2016 Paralympics.

Stella Chung is a 1st-year ETA teaching at high school in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do. Stella graduated from University of Southern California with a B.A. in Communication/Political Science and a Masters in Public Administration. She is a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and while she’s not very good at it, it comes in handy for anytime she’s asked for a fun fact about herself.
